Like humans, a tree is a living organism that can become diseased and ill. Disease and decay can weaken a tree and seriously compromise the its growth. Many times, especially if you act quickly, we can have the tree back in great health. If the disease has spread extensively, however, there might be nothing we can do to bring the tree back. There are many signs that show a tree is damaged beyond the point of return. Some signs include:

  • Compromised Trunk: Cracks, splits, large wounds, and dead branch stubs are all signs of internal decay. A tree trunk that is rotted or hallow inside is unsafe and also likely unhealthy.
  • Sprouts at The Base: These sprouts are also known as epicormic shoots and indicate that a tree is stressed.
  • Dead Branches: Take a look at the branches. If over 50 percent of the tree is dead or damaged, then it should probably be removed.
  • Root Defects: Your tree takes in its nutrients through its roots. Heaving soil and fungi near the trees base are signs of root issues.

Safety

Trees are good, for the most part. They do not intentionally attack anyone, but that does not mean that they are completely harmless. Trees, and even their branches, can weigh hundreds of pounds. A falling tree or branch of such size can crush structures, vehicles, and passersby. They can also grow into utility lines and roots can stretch out and penetrate pipes and septic tanks. If your tree is suddenly leaning, located near your plumbing system or foundation, growing under a power line, or has 50 percent or more of its branches dead, then it is important that you call an arborist to inspect the tree and probably remove it.

I absolutely love the work ethic displayed by Sesmas employees. They work hard and fast! My property looks amazing! This is the second time in 5 years that I have used their services and customer satisfaction is still at the top of their list.

Evita Fikes

Sesmas did a terrific job for us on a project completed today involving the removal of 18 problem trees. Project was completed exactly as promised, skillfully and for a reasonable price. Mike Fowler was excellent in overseeing the work and his crew was outstanding. Highly recommend!

Kathryn Arvidson

These guys were on point. Verified the request before beginning (always good, because the trees aren't coming back!). Then made sure the trimming was done to exactly where I wanted it. On time, fast, and completely cleaned up after - was a great experience. Highly recommend!

Josh Pitchford

We love trees, but they are not perfect. Trees can take up valuable real estate and even prevent sunlight from reaching other plants or the windows of a home. Further, some property owners prefer to have a spacious yard without the clutter of trees. It is perfectly normal to want to remove a tree in order to improve the aesthetic of your property. Our ISA-Certified arborists are happy to help plan and execute your tree removal.
